Jack
Last year, I was walking around downtown Seattle looking for portrait opportunities. Near Pike Place Market, Jack was seated at a shaded table on the sidewalk. He seemed content to watch the people stream past, focused on their destinations, phones and the latest delicacies from the market. I approached him somewhat hesitantly, as I wasn’t sure if he would welcome the interruption of his people watching. It turned out that Jack welcomed the opportunity to chat a bit.
Jack worked in Alaska in the fishing industry in his younger days and was enjoying his retirement. He is a spicy character, with lots to say on many topics. We closed our meeting with a few portraits that Jack handled like a pro. As we did our goodbyes, he gave me a warm handshake and a mischievous smile.
